Today the season of Advent draws to a close. The expectation of the coming light of the world, we then move to the season of Christmas. May it be a season of blessing for you.
As we read the final chapter of Luke today we enter into the redirection. This event is one of the great differences of the Christian faith. It distinguishes Christianity as the only faith led by a living leader.
As Jesus walks the road with two disciples he listens to their story. He then says (in the Message)
Luke 24:25 "...So thick- headed! So slow- hearted! Why can't you simply believe all that the prophets said?..."
I wonder if Jesus also says these words to us? Does he just say "believe the prophets, look at the truths laid out before and since. Just open your hearts to me and the peace that I bring!"
I pray that this year as you sit down to Christmas lunch with family friends that just as it did for the disciples at their table, Jesus and his truth would become clear for you.
Merry Christmas to you! May you celebrate well and celebrate Jesus the saviour of all!
