So today brings us to the second chapter of Luke in our Advent reading.
The hinge of history occurs in this chapter, the coming of Christ into the world. This is the point in history like none before or since. God comes to earth as a man and walks with us, because he loves us.
So what is there in this passage that we can take away with us, what can we see in the narrative of Jesus birth and early life that helps us to live well and live so as to please him?
Well there is a lot, but I will focus on just one aspect. That is that we need to follow Jesus example!
Luke 2:40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.
Luke 2:52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
So often people make it hard to know how to live, but these two verses lay it out with simplicity.
We need to be about growing in strength as people, listening and learning wisdom and grace and then to live in favour with God and man. if we were to pursue these things above all else, I am sure that we would find that the world would change around us.
I pray that this Christmas you will find yourself pondering your life, and will set yourself to live in favour with God and man, to live under the Grace that is available in God.
