This is one of the strange passages of the bible. Is Jesus saying we should be crooked managers? No.
What he is saying though is that we should me smart Christians. We are not called to be all faith and no brains. God has equipped us with both a brain and the capacity for faith and we must use both.
Advent is a great time of the year but it is all to easy to become complacent to follow the world's outlook and leave the amazing spiritual story behind. However, if we use our heads we can take the excitement and joy of Christmas and use it to announce loud the good news.
The passage goes on to talk about the rich man and Lazarus. We see that life is short and consequences are eternal in this story. (though it is not a systematic account of the physical heaven) We need to use advent as an opportunity to say loud and long that the light of the world has come and we no longer need to walk in darkness! John 8:12 "Jesus once again addressed them:"I am the world's Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.""
This advent be smart about your faith and use this heightened time of acceptance to the story to invite others to walk in the light.
