Luke 15 - Advent 2010

Today brings us to chapter 15 of Luke. There are some familiar stories in this section. Lost sheep, lost coins and the lost son.
We know quite well that the story that has become known as the prodigal son. The son wants his inheritance and heads off to the city where he blows the lot. He then comes home and is accepted back by dad and a party is thrown. The older brother however is not pleased and dad has to talk to him.
The story is more about the big brother than the son who goes away.
However for today and this season the question is where is advent in this story?
Well for me as I read it advent is seen in the father running to his son!
This is what we see in the Christmas story, Jesus jumps into creation, he runs to us, the filthy and un holy mankind and embraces us with wide arms and a deep love!
May you this advent rest into the loving arms of Jesus he loves you enough to leave heaven and come as a baby just for you!
