Luke 12 - Advent 2010

Today brings us to the 12th day of advent and chapter 12 of luke. This chapter is about trust and faith, about satisfaction and riches. These are some contextual issues when you think about the excess and stress that can surround the Christmas season.
We write lists of what we need these are really more about want than needs. We agonise over gifts, will she like it. Will he ever wear it? So much food is prepared, consumed and again there is little though to need.

The message translates it so well in verse 12 I will let it speak!

Luke 12:15
"Speaking to the people, he went on,"Take care! Protect yourself against the least bit of greed. Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot.""

What do our attitudes define us as this Christmas? What are we trying to define ourselves as by what we want? Some tough questions to answer, well worth thinking through.
