Luke 1 Advent 2010

As we enter the season of advent again (seems not that long ago that I was blogging for Christmas 2009) Luke 1 is where our family starts it's reading.

It is where the barren Elizabeth becomes pregnant and where the virgin woman Mary conceives the Son of God. What a picture we get in Mary, what challenges there are for our lives!

Could we be met by an angel with such words of affirmation?

Luke 1:28
"Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you! ” "

I'm am sure that we could all step up and follow God if an angel appeared and told us what to do, however Mary was doing it before. God was pleased with her he looked on her with favour!

I wonder if this Christmas we could step up not in the extraordinary times but in the ordinary ones? Could we please God with all of our lives and take joy and good will through the whole of the year and not just the Christmas period?

Then when the out of the ordinary happens we will be in a place to say yes I will do it!

Have a great advent as you prepare to remember the coming of the light of the world!
