I love long weekends!
We watched today a DVD of Tony Robinson presenting “The Worst Jobs in History”. As we watched some awful jobs presented, children coal miners and the like I wondered, are we any better as a society? Yes kids the age of five hauling coal up from a mine is wrong, but so is a kid complaining that they have to eat soup for dinner, or that they only have the previous version of a play station.
Yes we are more comfortable, but are we better? What is better?
What is right? How do you maintain in the minds of modern people living in the comfy and prosperous West that they are blessed, even if their TV is just a CRT or their DVD is not Blue Ray. We have runningwater, we have sewage, we have street lighting, clocks, cars, heating, and so many inventions that make life better, but are we actually better?
Much to ponder, much to change about myself and family.
