Scripture
2 Corinthians 1:8-10
We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favour granted us in answer to the prayers of many.
Observation
Last time we looked at the promise that God will come along side us. Paul could write these words because he had lived them! He had not just lived through some of the things we call struggles he had had his life under threat! By his own admissions more then he could endure by his our abilities. Many of us when faced with hard times turn away from God, we get angry, hurt, frustrated and blame him for our situation. Pal however turns toward, him! This difference changes everything, not the circumstance but the feelings, the outcome, the hope all change. Paul has realises and wants the church at Corinth to understand, God and our relationship to him on the most import and pint of life. So, if hard times draw us close to him then that is good!
Application
Ask yourself, when times are hard do I turn to Good or away from him? Who do you place your trust in?
Prayer
Dear gracious God I take the stance today me turn to you. open my eyes to see you, that I may praise your name.
