Scripture
2 Corinthians 2:12-17 Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the Lord had opened a door for me, I still had no peace of mind, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said good-by to them and went on to Macedonia.
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.
Observation
We live amidst the pressure of discovering God’s will, of wanting to walk on his path. Paul in this section touches on a great truth. “...leads us in triumphal procession in Christ...†What an awesome thought that as we seek to walk the road that Christ has for us, it is the same road that he walked. No we don’t go back and do everything that Christ did, but rather that our road is connected to his, our road continues on from the one that Christ walked. It is a grand procession, not just a boring slog that we trudge down. A grand procession! Wow! Our lives are called to continue the work of Christ; we are called to be the conduit of Christ’s hands and feet on the earth. To be a continuation of the road Christ walked and the direction he began.
Application
Look at your life; does your life continue the road walked by Christ?
How can you align your life better to the triumphal procession in Christ?
Prayer
God of all things, may I celebrate life and life the triumphal procession that continues in Christ. May I walk as you would have me walk?
