Scripture Reading 1:20-25
Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.
Observation
As this one chapter book of the bible draws to a close Paul make a statement to Philemon, he is Ć¢€˜confident of obedienceĆ¢€™, now this is a powerful thing to say, to be confident of the obedience of Philemon. How confident of obedience are those who know you? Could they say you would be obedient and more than that that you would do even more than what is asked of you? Or do you serve your own interests more than those of others? Philemon obviously did not, Paul was confident.
We must live our lives above reproach in every area, that when people thing of who we are they think of people who they can have confidence in. How distressing it is to think that those who claim the name of Christ and call themselves Christians could not be people who were faithful and obedient.
Application
Look at your week and determine when the times of weakness are and seek to strengthen those times to be sure you are a person who is obedient. What is one thing you can do this week that would be above and beyond what is expected?
Prayer
God of Grace and love, give me the strength that I need to live a life of obedience, help me to be aware of where I can go above and beyond.
