Comfort in Trouble

Scripture

1 Corinthians 1:4-5

“...who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.”

Observation

There is often so much hurt and hard times in life. This passage contains great wealth written by Paul to the church in Corinth, a church that knew the pressures of living in this world. It is a truth that helps to keep life in perspective. The truth that God comfort us in our troubles! The message translation puts it this way “He comes alongside us when we go through hard times,” what hope, to have the creator of all things, the one who spoke creation into being, come alongside us, to hold our hands, to walk with us.

Too often we ignore his hand; we let it stay held out to us whilst we stubbornly try to go it alone, to make it on our own effort. Take the hand of the one who comes alongside, and rest in this great peace!

Application

When have you tried to make it alone?

Confess your pride to Christ, and give over your will to Him.

Prayer

God of all creation, thank you for this great truth, I am sorry for my arrogance and pride, I rest into your arms and place my troubles into your hands.
