Anointed

Scripture

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

Observation

Wow this is just two small verses are yet it is full of some of the most amazing truth of the Christian faith. That we are anointed, that we are sealed for his ownership, that we have the Spirit in us and that something great is to come! Now they are some packed verses!

Anointed, we are set aside for his purposes to do his will. We are owned by him if anyone comes against us, well they can deal with our owner. We have power, we don't live this life for God unequipped, no, the Holy Spirit is equipping us for anything we will have to experience. I believe the equipping is more about the fruits of the spirit than the gifts! It is about love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control, all issues of character! Paul concludes that something more is guaranteed to come. Jesus said he would send the Holy Spirit and that he would come again! Well the Holy Spirit has come and Jesus is coming!

Application

Ask yourself do you live in the truth that you are God’s? Do you trust him to supply all that is needed for all that he has anointed you life for?

Prayer

God I confess I don’t always live as yours, help me to live in the fullness of your love and power.
