Absolute Truth

Scripture

2 Corinthians 4:1-6  Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Observation

Often in the Christian life we get a little nervous about what non Christians would think about us and about the gospel that we stand for. So in an attempt to lessen the possible reaction, we hide the gospel and smooth it out. Paul says that they do not use deception, or distort the word, no, they plainly state the truth of the gospel and allow it to convict men. We are not called to be clever and manipulative, most people will see right through it (They have been to an Amway presentation). We are called to be honest and truthful. Jesus called us to be his witnesses, witnesses just tell what they have seen and heard, the truth.

Application

In what ways have you hidden, manipulated and deceivingly presented the message of Christ?

Where in your life do you need to better present your experiences of Christ, with truth and honesty?

Prayer

God of all truth, may we represent you in clear, honest truth. Show us when and where to speak, but most of all show you to the world in our actions.
