A sure hope

Scripture Reading 15:1-11

...that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also...

Observation

We live the Christian life in the wonderful truth that what we place our hope in has been proven. We don’t hope in the death and resurrection of Christ as a may be that has been deduced by some religious leader, NO the gospel is proven by eye witnesses to the truth. Here in the passage Paul reminds the church of Corinth that what they believe is sound and supported by real people. In the list he includes himself.

We too sit at witnesses to the truth of the gospel. We don’t just believe because we hear or read about it but because we experience it!

Application

Take time to journal your story of Christ’s interaction in your life. Pray through your journal thanking God for his interaction into your life.

Prayer

Creator God, maker of everything, thank you for entering into my life, for rescuing me from the depth of despair. Help me to remember the all you have done for me and then to live in the power of this victory.
