Scripture Reading 15:35-58
When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.
Observation
This is a short section I know, but one with a very strong point to make. As looked at last time the future hope in the resurrection of the dead is a wonderful hope. This passage gives that hope a most wonderful addition. We are not going to be resurrected with a body of the same deficiencies! Hallelujah! Paul makes the point that when you sow seeds they do not grow back the same, for example when you sow pumpkin seeds you donĂ¢€™t get pumpkin seeds on the vine, no you get big orange vegetables! So to when we sow our bodies into the ground we will be raised to life in new bodies as he has determined! What a glorious hope.
Application
Jot down the struggles of this life, and pray through them handing them over to God?
Prayer
God of all things equip me with the grace to live this life in the deficiencies of this life, with the hope for the future as you determine. Praise you for this glorious and eternal hope.
