Look after the temple

Scripture Reading 6:12-20

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.

Observation

The more you read into the book of First Corinthians you see just how many issues there are for Paul to address. I wonder just how long his letter might be to us if he were to write now. In this passage Paul continues to deal with the sin right there within the church. People were living like they could do whatever they wanted and there was no impact. Paul though thinks differently! He states that “your bodies are members with Christ”. This is a very powerful concept. What Paul was saying here to the Corinthian Church is, you are one with Christ so if you enter willingly into a sinful relationship, then you are taking Christ into that situation! Put bluntly, if you sleep with a prostitute you are uniting Christ with a prostitute also! WOW! So if you enter into a dishonest business deal you are uniting Christ with that dishonesty too! If Christ were standing next to us I am sure that there are many things that we would not choose to do or see. But the truth is worse; Christ does not stand next to us he lives within us! This is awesome, the Creator of all things lives in us, we are one with him! Live in this power, deal with sin!

Application

What sin are you taking Christ into? Repent, turn around, allow Christ to cleans and heal!

Prayer

Lord of all grace, and power I come and confess that I unite you with sin, please forgive me! Thank you that your forgiveness is freely available to all who ask. Help me to live in the power and victory of being one with you!
