Scripture Reading 3:1-9
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
Observation
The great analogy of the farm or plants is one that is used often in Scripture. Paul here uses the analogy of a plant to continue his address at the church of Corinth̢۪s issues. Many there were aligning themselves strongly to one or the other of the apostles. Paul was not happy with this division. So he states that one plants, one waters but God makes it grow! It is not people that saved us; it is God who saved us. We all have roles to play and many people contribute to our journey in life, but it is God who makes us grow. So we must be sure to surround ourselves with people who can water us and nurture us, it is then that we can grow. If we limit ourselves to one person we will limit the work that God can do within us.
Application
Who is there in your life that is planning seeds, or watering you? What opportunities are there for God to grow you? Are there multiple people who have the opportunity to invest into you?
