Body Parts

Scripture Reading 12:12-31

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Observation

Paul continues his message about the body of Christ that we are a part of it and in this section he used the imagery of a human body to emphasis his point. Within the body there is no place for boasting about our position in the body or for feelings of inadequacy about our role. The body is one unit and each part is of significance. So the eye is not more or less important than the nose, feet or fingers.

What we all need to know is that we are all significant! Some have gifts that are public and upfront, others are never seen by the majority of the body. Neither is more or less important. If your gifts is hospitality i.e. you are a hand, they do that and do it well, if you are a mouth and speak well do that! If we all exercise our gifts then the body will function well, if we do not then the body will be unable to function correctly.

Application

Have a think about the body, what part are you? An ear, an eye, a hand, foot, mouth? Let God speak into that, to show you how loved and important you are because of your role and function. Share this with a mentor or friend and encourage each other.

Prayer

God you made me just as I am, you gifted me for your service. May I faithfully server the body just as you have created me to do!
