I went to the Pre Release of Amazing Grace today. The image to the left has the US release dates the Australian dates are July 26th 2007. You can see the trailer at the bottom of the page or head to YouTube.
This film re-tells the story of William Wilberforce a pro-active Christian leader and a productive concerned parliamentarian, who, after 20 years of faithful campaigning to abolish slavery, finally succeeded in 1807 in passing an act of parliament in all British colonies.
Yes as in all that comes from Hollywood it uses some poetic licence but the message of the movie is strong! And any way I went to a tech school so was never taught history so would not know where they took the licence any way.
It is a good quality movie. Now it is not an armchair ride through the twists and turns of a thriller. However it is a good movie about a significant event in the history of the world. Told with quality sets, costumes, scripting and acting.
For the Older generation that finds much produced from Hollywood dribble it will be worth the effort. For those of the younger brigade it is a story worth knowing a little more about.
I would never say you must go and see anything but if you have the inclination it is worth a look.
The greater challenge comes from the call to complete the job started so long ago! www.stopthetraffik.org.au is a site highlights the need to still deal with this issue in the world.
Here is the trailer:
Have you decided whether you are in the older or younger generation yet?
