Minnows Fill the Cup

Well it is time for me to enter into the World Cup discussions!  Not sure why it has taken me so long to get into it.  So the debate has raged about the value of the minnows playing in the cup.

Ian Chappell has had his say in the debate

Never once has a minor cricketing nation defeated a major side, nor have they ever come closer than being on the same field in these lopsided contests

What is he on?  The results of the past day of so, are the reason these sides should be in the cup! Pakistan sent home by bold Ireland and Brilliant Bangladesh stun India are the  examples of the excitement that can come from the David and Goliath battles!  These results might just be the thing that can bring about the money to support their local competitions and thus see the greatest sport in the world take hold in places like Ireland or Bangladesh.  Just as soccer has taken a stronger hold in Australia after some Soccer World Cup success.

So bring on the minnows, may Australia not take them for granted as did Pakistan and India!
