Waves

I read this recently:

I remember the first time we took our young daughter into ocean waves. She was happily enjoying the way she bobbed in the water in her father's arms—until a huge wave made my husband lose his balance, toppling both of them into the suction as it pulled them under. I was shocked at how quickly the wave sucked them down and out. My husband struggled against the tide as it pulled them out to sea, finally regaining his footing and swimming with our daughter back to shore. Our poor little girl came up sputtering and spitting salt water. She didn't want to go into the water again for a while after that.

Sometimes the pressures of this world are just like those waves. We think we're moving along fine, and then we get hit by a gargantuan wave and find ourselves swimming against the tide.

Too often we think we can handle the world on our own, or like the girl we get into it without any understanding, just trusting others. Either way we find ourselves out of control rather fast!  Jesus will be there to love us and bring salvation but and it is a bit but!  We are free to chose our actions but not the consequences of those actions.  The undertow is still there and will suck you out to sea!
