Church Money

Read an interesting article on the Age's wesite today!  Click here to read the full article.  The church is a soft target!

I posted a commnet on the comments site Click here to post yours!  Here is what I posted just incase their system does not post my comment!

Intersting!  Not much mention of the about that the churches give back into the community!  Funerals, Weddings, food, care, help, hospital visiting... the list is long and this is just the programs run by the churches!  There are also the millions of acts of kindness and care that happen in the community because people are inspired to care for others by the faith that is alive within them.

If all the Church run schools were to stop where would the government put the children?  What state schools could handle the influx?  So yes government money goes into the Provate school systems but it would cost more to fund if they did not exist!

The article calls for churches that recieve money from governments to nut use it for Religious activities.  If this is the case it should stand for all community groups!  So the scouts can not use any grants they get to further the scouting movement!  The football clubs can not use it for getting more followers and the gay lobby groups can not use it for promoting their propoganda as well!

There is also the fact that people need to have a belief in somehting other than themselves and Church and faith does this!

  1. I was looking at myspace.com and clicked on a link to a Christian blog. I thought that the following Blog was interesting as I believe it voices so much of what Christians feel - that the churches that they go to do not give them what they need in the journey of faith. I can sometimes feel this way also, and am not sure if this is how all churches are, or if it is just sometimes you feel this way; based on your mood on the day, what emotions you may be going through, and what the 'vibe' of the church is like on that particular day. It's just interesting to hear other opinions on the Church life.
