I have been thinking about a comment on the issues going on at the top of the world in the past few days. It just did not sit right with me that they left a man to die on the mountain so they could complete their climb. I would have thought that at least you sit with him. Then today I saw that Craig's weekly rant was out and that he had made the comment for me.
... Frankly, I don’t care if you are about to become the first double amputee to climb Everest (surely there can’t be that much competition?). You climbed past a still living person and decided that it was too impractical to help them. We need to wonder about people who decide that the glory of climbing a hunk of rock is greater than the glory of comforting someone in their last moments. If Inglis had two original legs he (and his party) would be slammed for an act of callousness. If Inglis had been the one left to die, imagine the outcry! (Able bodied man leaves amputee to die on Everest!) They say that there are 120 dead bodies still up on Everest. You wonder if people are getting immune to the sight? ... C. Brown, craigsrant.com
