A Dry Eyed Man

I heard this quote recently
Forgive us o Lord for being a dry eyed church in a sin soaked land!
It struck me that my eyes are dry I display little emotion as I view this world.
What makes you weep? What breaks your heart? What stirs your heart? What is it that you put your efforts into?
These are good questions to ask but do you like the answers?   More Important than this is God happy with your answers? He knows the answers before I wrote the questions down!
I think that too often in the Church and particularly in the lives of the yuppie west Christians our attitudes do not reflect what God cares about! Does God care about the latest movie, coffee or fashion?
Does God anger when we are cut off in traffic? I get angry but I doubt that God is concerned about this injustice against me!

I doubt God would care about the majority of content on A Current Affair or Today Tonight? I would imagine that God cares little for most content on the TV (cricket would demand most of his attention) yet we waste hours watching and talking about it.  TV is not wrong but the level of energy and emotion we give it is what needs to be addressed!
So what do we need to do? Philippians 1:9-11 says:
For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until Christ returns. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation --those good things that are produced in your life by Jesus Christ--for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
We need to be filled with grace living in the fruit of Salvation love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.  We need to see the world through the heard of God.  If we can start to view the world in this way we can then start to put out energies into activities and emotions that matter in the whole scheme of things and not just our immediate world.
So these are my thoughts the challenge is can I change my attitudes and actions?  How about you?
