Out they go to play

Well with the sun out and the christmas tree packed away it is time again to head out to the cricket pitch. Now with two young girls at home there is not much backyard cricket played at our place (See the article in The Age for a good read about backyard cricket.) but since I was 8 I have played Cricket for a local club.  So Saturday out come the whites again after the christmas breakk to go into battle for the pride of the suburban oval.  there will no doubt be little grass around and the game starts to favour the batsmen. (us bowlers have the benefit of log grass as the start of the season.)  So will the body cope?  Will the umpires have new glasses for Christmas?  Whatever happens it will be hard fought and tough cricket but very enjoyable!  I will keep you informed of the progress in coming posts.
